Onondaga Creek "Mud Boils"
Feasibility Study
Natural Systems Engineering was retained as a subcontractor to perform a feasibility evaluation for the relocation of a portion of Onondaga Creek to avoid areas of historic mud boils in Onondaga Creek, thus mitigating the water quality impacts of siltation. The conceptual design evaluated by NSE included the placement of a geotextile separation layer at depth below the relocated creek to prevent the subsurface erosion process leading to mud boils from occurring (see inset).
